About Alpacas | Alpaca and Silk Wet Felt Scarves
The Alpaca is a gentle grazing animal related to the llama and found in the Andes Mountains of Peru, Chile and Bolivia. Alpaca hair is of such an exquisite nature that in Incan times only royalty was allowed to wear clothing made from the fiber. Some of the key attributes of Alpaca: 1. More than twice as warm as sheep's wool 2. Three times stronger than sheep's wool 3. Water resistant 4. Incredibly soft and resilient... even more so than cashmere 5. Excellent wrinkle resistance 6. Elevated color brightness due to its natural luster 7. Semi-hollow fiber that gives it unusual thermal warmth 8. Unlike sheep's wool there is no lanolin and therefore less allergenic If this sounds like a dream fiber... believe it... because it is. |

The Alpaca Ponchos are made from imported Alpaca fabric. The fabric has a soft and luscious hand. I have painted the alpaca fabric and then felted Suri Alpaca onto the surface. I designed the pattern to be comfortable as well as making a statement. Each poncho is an original. You need to feel this fabric to really appreciate it.
